DAY 1 – HEADING WEST

Date: Thursday, August 30, 2018

Up at 5:30, pure joy. We got to the gate area at 7:20 with boarding at 9:00. First stop Denver.

LOOKING OUT LEE’S BREAKFAST ROOM WINDOWS

So far a great travel day, no delays, no hassles. I used Uber for the first time and that too was easy. We are in Twon’s car now heading to Vallejo.

I told Don to expect us around 4:00 and that’s the time we pulled in.

DON & LEE CATCHING UP

We headed over to the storage facility to see Bubba.

THE MACHINE!

We did a couple hours of work on the bike. I mounted a car horn and a rear foot peg on the left, the sidecar frame was in the way on the right side. The fairing was also removed in preparation of the fork leg swap on deck for tomorrow. The saddle bags were next. The mounting brackets were loose so I drilled out the rivets and replaced them with hex head machine screws. New latches were then installed so the bags can be locked and a couple other repairs made.

We stopped at 7:00 and headed out for dinner. The Thai Kitchen was a pleasant surprise, the food was excellent, I ate like a wolf!

We just got to our motel in Fairfield, a 23 minute drive. Don was gracious enough to give us the use of a small pickup.

Time to crash.
